Sissy Hits - The Indie ‘Extraordinary Machine’?

Hahaha I was just reading the Drowned in Sound site there and perusing the comments about Sissy Hits being shelved. Aside from wanting to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who’s been giving it big noise about the situation on the forums etc, and Daniel Ross for the insane review (hell it made me want to buy it until I remembered that I don’t have to…) I’d like to extend a personal thank you to the DiS poster usernamed fargo for literally making my week by comparing the Sissy Hits situation to Sony shelving Fiona Apples album ‘Extraordinary Machine’. While the situations are wildly, wildly  different (I’m fairly certain if Jealous had the financial clout of Sony then you’d have the ep by now no worries) I had made a crack to my flatmate about Sissy Hits being the indie ‘Extraordinary Machine’ seeing as how I’m a massive massive Fiona Apple fan (seriously, I spent well over £250 to see her in London a couple of years ago). So to clock someone else making the same joke gave me huge chuckles, cheers dude!

I’d also like to clear up any possible misunderstanding that there was any sort of malicious intent on the part of Ian or Jealous records leading to the EP being shelved. Ian done a cracking job with the ‘Some Dresses’ single and has released some quality records in the past by excellent bands, there are no hard feelings on our part towards either him or the label (now obviously, I won’t deny there was a fleetingly brief period of WTF! :P), shitty unavoidable financial circumstances just jumped all over the entire project and we wish Ian all the best for the future.

Anyways, here’s hoping the situation isn’t resolved in the same way as ‘Extraordinary Machine’ because IMHO the Jon Brion sessions were way better than the final retail version. WAEY!
